The Emerald City

Anyone reading this probably knows how much we love soccer, so when we found out our favorite MLS team was going to Seattle for their first match of the season we made plans immediately to go. Seattle is about a 12 hour drive from where we live and we have always wanted to go, so it was a no brainer. We left in the morning on a Thursday and started our drive. We left excited and ready to spend some quality time together.

The drive was beautiful with mountains covered in evergreens and the forest covered in moss. It was so green which was a nice change from our brown scenery in Idaho. We finally made it to Washington and it was pretty late so we decided to just stay in the back of our Subaru at a state park. We brought our 0 degree sleeping bags so we were plenty warm.

This is where we stayed ;)

We woke up the next morning and drove into Seattle and went to the downtown Market. It was the best Farmers Market ever. It was so neat with a lot of fun things to look at and purchase. We spent a couple hours looking around.

The first Starbucks is in the market. I went to get a salted caramel hot chocolate, but they were out. I settled for a toffee hot chocolate which was still yummy.

This was the view from the market :)

After we left the market we went to a camping store called REI. Nick was in heaven and we were in there for like 2.5 hours. They had a cute little playground for kids with a tree house, slide, canoe, and tent. Abigail loved it!

First time on an escalator and she LOVED it. She thought it was so funny.

After REI we went a couple more places and then back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We went out to dinner and then came back to the hotel and went to sleep. We got up early the next morning to go to the soccer match. We were so excited. 500 fans traveled to come to the match and we met them at a pub to walk to the stadium together. The whole way to the stadium we sang chants and it was a lot of fun. It was rainy, but we didn't really mind.

Miss Abigail fell asleep before the game even started, but woke up for the second half.

After the game we went back to the hotel because we were soaked from all the rain. We decided to go grab some pizza and then we went swimming in the pool at the hotel. After that we relaxed and went to bed.

The last day we woke up and packed. We went to the Space Needle and to Alki Beach. I was so excited to see the ocean because I haven't seen it since I was about 2 years old.

And then we drove home... It was so much fun and it was so nice to get away and spend some quality time together.

Life Lately

We have been pretty busy lately. My husband started a new job and I started watching kids a little more. I also started school back up with online classes, so any free moment we have we try to do something fun with Abigail. With that being said I thought it would be fun to look back at what we have been up to the past couple months!

Celebrated Valentine's Day by making cards for grandparents, doing some chalkboard art, and going out to eat with daddy to the cutest restaurant in town.

We went on a 5 mile hike in 2 feet of snow and it was crazy on our part, but very beautiful and a lot of fun. We are always up for an adventure!

We were reunited with one of my best friends. She hadn't seen Abbey since she was like 5 months old, so it was super exciting!

Abigail got her first stitches :(
It was super late and wayyy past her bedtime, but she was being ornery and insisting that she stay awake. She was driving her shopping cart around the living room like a mad women. Let me add in here that she is already clumsy but 10x more clumsy when she is tired. Her dad was on his way home form work, he had to work late. I was literally getting ready to get up and put her to bed when she ran her shopping cart into the entertainment center, tripped over it and took a face dive into the shelf. She started screaming and I thought it was because her foot was caught, so I scooped her up and said your alright baby. But then I looked up and there was blood everywhere. Yikes. I called Nick and said hurry home we have to go to the ER. I thought she had bit entirely through her lip, but she had two separate cuts. Thankfully it wasn't a through and through. We took her to the ER and the sweet doctor gave her a pink bear and put a bandage on to numb the cut. They had to hold her down while putting in the stitches and I sat in the corner with my back turned crying like a baby. I felt so bad that I was watching her when it happened. I felt like there was something I could have done to prevent it, but these things just happen. Especially to girls like mine who love to be super active. I gave her lots of love and kisses and she was just fine afterwards. After six days I had to take her in by myself to get the stitches out. She was still traumatized from getting them, so this was worse. Thankfully it lasted only a minute. You always keep me on my toes little girl!

My husband and Abigail were sick one week and so we weren't able to go to church. I walked into him showing her a book and teaching her about Jesus. One of the sweetest moments. Since then every time she sees a picture of him she points and says Jesus or blows him kisses…melt my heart.

One day she was going stir crazy because we have been in the whole almost the whole winter. Idaho winters can be brutal. So, I decided we would venture out to the pet store and to go shopping for an Easter dress. She had so much fun. She loves animals and trying on clothes so it was a hit.

I finally framed her first drawings and hung them up. Now every time we pass them she points and says ohhh.

She has been rocking the purse I made her as well as the headband I made her. She is OBSESSED with Dora, so I found a Dora fabric for the inside and she carries it around everywhere going "dora dora dora dora." I am learning to sew and I love it! I am so not great at it, but with more practice I think I will get the hang of it. Thanks to my amazing friend Daina for teaching me and having the patience of a saint ;)

And some fun at home or while I am babysitting:

And finally we switched her crib to a toddler bed. She fell out trying to climb on it the other night, so we switched it and it was the best decision I have made. She has been a pretty horrible sleeper lately waking up sometimes up to 5 times a night. I always felt like she didn't like her crib, but she seemed to small to change it. The night we switched her to a toddler bed she slept through the night from around 10 pm to 8:30 am and didn't even get out of bed. AHHH finally I know what sleep feels like.

Stay tuned for a post on our trip to Seattle ;)
